LLK SERVICES
REAL PEOPLE,
REAL SMILES

Your smile is your calling card. Whether you're on a job interview or a first date - or just going through the many actions and interactions of an average day - your smile has an immediate impact on the way people perceive you. And if you're embarrassed about your teeth - because of spaces, chips, crookedness, or color - people aren't perceiving the most confident and attractive version of you.

If your smile's not perfect, Lowenberg, Lituchy and Kantor can help. Thanks to many technological advancements and our artistic talents, we have transformed tens of thousands of smiles and literally changed the way people look and feel about themselves. While most of our patients enjoy the subtle improvement of their smiles, there are many who have told us of life changing results as a result of the investment they have made in their smile. Whether their stories include a new romance, a new job or becoming more social, the common denominator is always that when you feel good about your smile you tend to smile more.

PAT'S STORY

Recent studies have shown that most people are dissatisfied with their smile... but just a small percentage of them realize how simple it is to change it. At Lowenberg, Lituchy and Kantor, we help patients determine the best way to improve their smile, and dramatically alter those patients' self-esteem by improving it. Our philosophy is simple. We believe that every smile should be unique to each individual and we strive to maintain individuality while we create beautiful smiles. What makes our smile makeovers different from other cosmetic dentists is that we "listen" to our patients needs and desires. The development of your smile is a result of the patients input and our expertise. The result is what we call the "perfectly imperfect smile," which is a smile that is not a cookie cutter smile but is one that maintains individuality and character within its beauty.

Whatever you don't like about your smile - the color, shape, spacing, chipping -- or if you've just always wanted a more eye-catching smile, LLK uses a handful of techniques to refashion them. Key procedures include whitening, bonding, laminates, and simply reshaping the teeth, although periodontology (in other words, work on the gums), implants, and orthodontics also play a role in cosmetic dentistry.

PROCEDURES

In a sense, porcelain veneers (also called laminates) are the Rolls-Royce of cosmetic dentistry. They're simply the best and most long-lasting way to transform your smile. In this process, a thin veneer of custom made porcelain is applied directly to the teeth. Porcelain's natural translucency truly mimics natural tooth structure (enamel) and gives your smile believability. Porcelain veneers are so life-like that your teeth look like the ones you always wished you were born with - and they don't stain like bonding does.

Completely transforming your smile takes just two office visits. The focus of the first visit is to make room for the laminates in your mouth, so the tooth structure is slightly reduced by less than one millimeter. At the second visit, the new veneers are fitted, and cemented onto your teeth with a composite resin that bonds the veneers to tooth structure. Both visits are performed under local anesthesia and during the period between the first and second visit the patient wears temporary veneers, which enables the patient to function in their daily life.

PORCELAIN
VENEERS
"Porcelain veneers are
basically a game changer
for your smile."

They can correct a multitude of imperfections, including changing the color and shape of teeth, making crooked teeth appear straight, correcting gaps and spaces between teeth, and making the arch wider (which creates a fuller smile, by giving greater support to the lips and cheeks.) Whatever's corrected, we strive to have a result that is both natural looking and beautiful.

PORCELAIN FILLINGS
BONDING

Bonding can help restore teeth that have spaces, or repair teeth that are chipped. In this procedure, the tooth's enamel is lightly etched, then covered with an adhesive that is cured with an ultraviolet light. Then, to the surface of the tooth, we place a soft composite resin and mold the resin into a shape that is desired. The resin is hardened and bonded to the tooth with an ultraviolet light source. The new material is then shaped and polished and most times blends with the existing color of the tooth.

Bonding is painless and typically anesthesia-free, plus you get immediate results with just one office visit. But bonding only lasts for a limited time, and easily chips or stains.

WHITENING

Everyone wants a bright, white smile ... and bleaching is one way to achieve it. In the dentist's office, a bleaching gel, consisting of 35% hydrogen peroxide, is applied directly to the teeth. Then the teeth are exposed to a high intensity light, which accelerates the oxidation process, breaking down molecules that cause the darkening of teeth. The process takes about 1 hour in the office under protective barriers so that your gums and lips are not harmed. Buyer beware though - whitening or bleaching has varying degrees of success. Not every patient is happy with the results because often the teeth are not extremely receptive to the whitening gel.

Dentists can also create customized bleaching trays to use at home. With these, you wear a tray filled with a solution of either carbamide or hydrogen peroxide for up to an hour, and typically see results after a week or two of nightly use.

Both types of bleaching aren't permanent and have to be repeated periodically, but can help brighten and whiten your smile.

One of the most beautiful, natural looking and durable restorations available today are porcelain inlays and onlays. They are a very aesthetic alternative to composite and amalgam fillings. Our porcelain inlays and onlays are designed to look and perform just like natural teeth. They have a high degree of strength, and, as such, are excellent for restoring weakened back teeth. Inlays and onlays protect and restore large portions of decayed, heavily restored teeth, or teeth under heavy load. Unlike crowns, they only cover a portion of the tooth, and are therefore more conservative on the amount of tooth preparation required. They are made with porcelain, customized to your natural tooth shade, look like natural teeth, and are thus virtually undetectable. With the new advances in technology and dental materials, our porcelain inlays and onlays are as strong and durable as crowns and can last just as long.
